Developmental Delay - Resource
Instructor: Susan R. Burkett
The Developmental Disabilties Program (DD) is designed for children three to five years of age with a disability.  The disablities consist of developmental disablities, physical disabilities, vision impairments, hearing impairments, speech/lanugage impairments, and other disabilities that meet the federal guidelines.  The belief of this program is that every child can learn.  Each child in the classroom has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).  Because of the varied levels of disabilities, there are different levels of learning taking place in the classroom.

The children in my room are K4 and K5 children whose IEP's have them placed in the resource room as their least restrictive environment.  This means that these children  spend time in their K4 or K5 classrooms with their peers and time in my classroom working on their IEP goals and objectives.  Some children spend as much as 3 hours per day in my classroom and some children spend as little as 1 hour per day in my classroom.  Their IEP determines the amount of time that is spent in the resource room.
